Manatee Technical College (MTC)
Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection | Bradenton, FL
Trident completed construction on MTC after being awarded the structural steel fabrication and erection subcontract by general contractor, Beck Construction.
The new Manatee Technical College (formerly known as Manatee Technical Institute) main campus replaced MTC’s (MTI’s) existing 50-year-old campus with a new state-of-the-art facility. The new facility has been built to keep pace with the ever-growing educational demands of adult and career path students in Manatee and surrounding counties. This new facility is a sleek, modern building that brings all of MTC’s programs under one roof.
A key feature is the mall influenced designed multipurpose space with connecting oversized corridors. The multipurpose space features a reception area, dining, and a common gathering area that can hold more than 1,500 people. The dining portion of this space serves as an internet café for the adjacent media center. A connecting corridor features a 170-seat teaching auditorium. This design allows a complete line of sight into most program labs through large expanses of glass. Many programs are grouped together for interaction during class time, providing an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and personal and professional achievement. Manatee Technical College will be the first site in Manatee County to receive a WeatherSTEM package, a camera and computer program that captures and distributes atmospheric data.
